Becker Vineyards Annual Lavender Fest

Sat., 10am–6pm and Sun., 12pm-5pm. Becker Vineyards, 464 Becker Farms Rd. Experience the Provence-like setting of Becker Vineyards as you stroll the grounds during its annual Lavender Fest. Located off Hwy 290 just minutes east of Fredericksburg, you’ll be greeted at the vineyards to rows of vibrant lavender that play contrast with the Earth’s red, sandy soil. The event is a celebration of all things lavender and features speakers and vendors promoting lavender education as well as herb-related products. There will be gardening tips, lavender cooking demonstrations, wine tasting (tasting fees apply), and luncheons. Bring the family; enjoy the fun! Free admission; $5 parking charge. 830-644-2681.

History of Lavender at Becker Vineyards

Dr. Richard and Bunny Becker were inspired to grow lavender and commercially produce products while traveling in Provence, France. As they were touring the wineries, they noticed the beautiful rows of lavender growing. They felt the climate and terrain was similar to the Texas Hill Country.
In 1998, the Beckers planted 3 acres of lavender at the winery, began commercially producing lavender soaps and other products, and started the annual Lavender Fest.
