Karen Frias, owner of Blackbird Antiques in Comfort, Texas, can rest assured that her store greeters are most unique. Molly and Hudson began coming to work with her six years ago, and have been pleasing visitors with their personalities ever since. Molly and Hudson are no ordinary greeters-they are Karen’s Pug dogs, and have been ‘working’ at Blackbird Antiques ever since they were just seven weeks old.

When they first started coming to work with Karen, they took their naps in antique baby cradles. Now Karen has turned one area of the store into their own personal boudoir.

The Pugs sleep on antique sample beds, complete with antique quilts and pillows, have their own 1940 playhouse furniture–all to scale, of course–two phone lines, and a display of their favorite antique perfume bottles.

For the holidays, Frias decorates their space with a Christmas tree and stockings that hang by the fireplace with care.

Molly and Hudson are celebrities in Comfort and receive fan mail from local kids; they are even pen pals with members of Mrs. Oliphant’s fourth grade class from Comfort Elementary.

The letters and homemade birthday cards they receive are displayed behind them on the Doggie Wall. Visitors send in pictures of their pets to be put on display.

Molly and Hudson love the attention they receive and are always willing to pose for pictures, especially Hudson who cheeses it up on his distressed leather couch.

Being the trendsetters that they are, Molly and Hudson have inspired several people to get Karen’s help in creating doggie suites for their beloved pets.
