Step Into Your Dancin' Boots
| Bandera, Texas | March 2010

The Bandera Dance Club at the Farm Country Club is the place to be if you want to move to the music of the Almost Patsy Cline Band. Dance clubs have been a tradition in the Texas Hill Country for many years, and at the Bandera Dance Club, every dance is fun for all.

There are two door prizes at each event: one is a $50 cash prize for members only and the other is a prize worth about $40 and available to anyone attending. The dances are open to couples and singles, and in fact, the single ladies at the dance in January had more than enough dance floor time.

The dances are not “members only,” but the overall cost throughout the year is less if you become a member. Guests are welcome to attend and pay a $15 fee at the door. Several people have attended a dance before deciding to join. Membership fees are pro-rated throughout the year as dances are held.

The remaining dates for dances are March 19, April 16, May 21, October 22, and a special Christmas party dance on December 17. Dances are from 7-11 pm and doors open at 5:30 pm. The membership fee for the March-December dances is $62.50/person. All the dances are held at the Farm Country Club (www.farmcc.com) and feature music by the Almost Patsy Cline Band.

“I think the main appeal of the Bandera Dance Club is it’s not a bar setting,” says Lanette Pennell. “It’s smoke free. However, you can bring your own bottle if you wish. Set ups are available at the dance for a donation. Ice and sodas are available. You can decorate your table as you like.”

The December dance will feature the Club’s Christmas party and cook-off. You can enter a main dish, side dish, or dessert, and winners will be chosen by tasters at the Club. It is $2.00 to enter a dish and $2.00 to eat (all of that wonderful cooking for only $2.00!). The prizes for the best-tasting dishes are the entry fees for the dishes and eating.

If you don’t feel like you have the stuff to bust a move on the dance floor, Chuck and Sheri Levert teach dance lessons during the hour preceeding the dance. These lessons are complimentary for anyone attending the dance that day. Lanette says that they have a lot of fun plans for the dances later this year and suggestions from members are always welcome.

For more information, or to become a member, call Lanette Pennell at 210-844-8549 or, to download the membership form, visit almostpatsyclineband.com.
