City of Comfort Invites Visitors to Celebrate the Season at Spring Market Day and Gospel Fest
The town of Comfort invites visitors to celebrate spring at its Spring Market Day and Gospel Fest on Saturday, March 27. The event combines fun family activities with gospel music and spring shopping. Spring Market Day will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Comfort Park on Texas Highway 27, off of IH-10. Market Day includes a selection of arts and crafts, clothing and accessories, home décor items, garden items, jewelry and much more. Family activities include face painting, two inflated bounce houses, and an antique tractor display. The ongoing Gospel Fest will feature singers and bands from the surrounding area, including Fiddle Chick & A Picker and Dale Friedrich & Jesus Train. Visitors are invited to bring their lawn chairs or blankets to enjoy the music. Barbecue and beverages will be available for purchase. Spring Market Day includes book signings by several area authors, including: Mae Durden Nelson, author of I Just Called Her Momma, the story of her family life. Her newest book is There’s a Racoon in My Bathroom. M. Bradley Davis, author of books for youth. His newest is The Broken Violin. Anne & Mike Stewart, authors of Comfort Women in Comfort History, Texas in the Civil War: The Story of Comfort’s Monument, and The Farm Cookbook. Admission is free. In addition to shopping at Spring Market Day, visitors to Comfort also can shop at merchants in the downtown historic district, the Highway 87 shopping district and the shops along Highway 27.
