The First Annual Hill Country Film Festival in Fredericksburg Announces The Opening Night Film “Offi

The Hill Country Film Festival kicks off its inaugural three-day celebration of independent film and filmmakers on Thursday, April 22 at 6pm, with the screening of the award-winning feature film documentary, “Official Rejection.”

A festival favorite, “Official Rejection” documents the exploits of a group of filmmakers as they attempt to introduce their independent feature, “Ten ‘til Noon” into the world of film festivals. A bumpy road of misadventure, politics, triumphs and comic tragedies fill their journey, as they discover that film festivals aren’t always what they appear to be.

“I couldn’t think of a more appropriate film to open our very first film festival,” says Chad Mathews, Festival Director. “This movie is a must see for anyone wanting to work in the independent film world. It’s a comedic look at the pitfalls of indie film, filmmakers and festivals, and it couldn’t be closer to the truth of what we all have to endure daily for the love of our art.”

Los Angeles based director and screenwriter, Paul Osborne, will be in attendance for the opening night event and will field audience questions after the screening at the Stagecoach Theater in Fredericksburg.

HCFF kicks off Thursday, April 22 and runs through Saturday, April 24. Film screening dates and times for all remaining films will be released in April. All films will be screened in Fredericksburg’s Stagecoach Theater located at 2254 South US Hwy 87.

Set in Fredericksburg, Texas, the annual HCFF is the vision of its director Chad Mathews, an actor, screenwriter, producer and native Texan. Having participated in the film festival circuit with his latest film, “Clones Gone Wild,” Mathews came to love the camaraderie and shared respect of those who are committed to the art of independent filmmaking.

HCFF is bringing independent film to the Texas Hill Country. The appeal of the Texas Hill Country, with its authentic culture, picturesque setting and welcoming spirit is ideal for cultivating an annual world-class “destination” film festival.
