History of Lavender at Becker Vineyards

Dr. Richard and Bunny Becker were inspired to grow lavender and commercially produce products while traveling in Provence, France. As they were touring the wineries, they noticed the beautiful rows of lavender growing. They felt the climate and terrain was similar to the Texas Hill Country.

In 1998, the Beckers planted 3 acres of lavender at the winery, began commercially producing lavender soaps and other products, and started the annual Lavender Fest.

This year at the Becker Vineyards 12th Annual Lavender Festival, there will be lavender presentations, lavender luncheons, lavender cooking demos, vendors selling lavender and gardening related products, music, wine tasting, winery tours, and concessions. The event is complimentary; parking is $5.

Chris Perrenoud is the Lavender Manager, and produces all types of lavender products from soaps and potpourris to shower gels and salt scrubs.
