Making a Big Splash in the Hill Country
Kroc Center in Kerrville Opens Aquatic Center
| Kerrville, Texas | May 2011

Located in the heart of the Hill Country, the Kroc Center in Kerrville offers an oasis for families in and around the area.

Situated on 16 acres, the Kroc Center opened just a few months ago as a gathering place for families to meet, recreate, and grow together as a community.

The center is 48,000 square feet of fun, including a state-of-the-art gymnasium that can accommodate basketball, volleyball, soccer, and more year round. Fitness classes for people from beginner to advanced are offered, and everybody can find something to get them moving.

With summer fast approaching, the Kroc Center is gearing up for cooling down, opening the warm-water Aquatic Center that has already made a big splash with the grand opening during Spring Break.

The Aquatics Center is like no other water facility in the Hill Country. More than 16,000 square feet of decking surrounds two incredible warm-water pools. Between dips in the leisure pool or a rigorous workout in the lap pool, guests may purchase beverages such as sodas, coffee or tea as well as snacks at the concession stand. There are secure locker facilities for men, women and families, and each locker room has a swimsuit dryer. There are also plenty of umbrella tables and deck lounges if you want to while away some time with your favorite read! The Aquatics Center pools are available for swimming instruction, water aerobics, exercise for seniors, lifeguard training and just plain fun.

This three-lane lap pool is perfect for those who swim as part of their exercise and wellness program. It can also accommodate any high-school swim team or swim clubs that currently exist or are planned in the area. The lap pool is used for life-saving classes, lifeguard training, water polo, aerobics, and some swim lessons. Because it is a warm-water pool, it is open year-round.

This amazing warm-water pool features both a water slide and spray features, providing fun for kids of all ages. It is the perfect place for parents with youngsters to gather for a day of fun with their friends. It’s also a great place for seniors to meet and exercise at their own pace. The pool has a beach entry, with a deck that gently slopes beneath the surface of the water and becomes increasingly deep as you move forward. Beach entries are perfect for families with toddlers and for guests who are unable to use steps or ladders to enter the pool. The leisure pool will be open from April through October as well as during spring break.

The Kroc Center and Aquatic Center are available to everyone, whether you live in Kerrville or are just passing through. Day passes are available.

The vision of Joan Kroc, widow of Ray Kroc, founder of McDonald’s, Kroc Centers began with a donation to the Salvation Army of $90 million earmarked for community recreational centers. Kerrville is the only Kroc Center location in Texas, and in addition to the Aquatic Center and Recreation facilities, the Center has a worship center with services on Sunday and programs throughout the week, all based on the Bible with a mission to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ while helping to meet the human needs of others without discrimination.

They also offer classes in fine arts and education, theater, and have several after-school and seasonal day camps for kids. Facilities are also available for large gatherings, such as weddings, meetings, workshops, receptions, and more.

The Kroc Center is the latest gem of the Hill Country, and people from all walks of life are invited to enjoy and use the facilities. This summer, stop in, cool down, and have a great time!
