Learn to identify ‘little brown birds’ at sparrow and wren workshop Dec. 3
Boerne, Texas | November 20, 2011

Intermediate birders will have a chance to learn to identify those challenging “LBBs” (little brown birds) of the grasslands during the Winter Sparrows and Wrens Workshop from 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Dec. 3 at the Cibolo Nature Center.

Byron Stone of Austin, an expert birder and sparrow specialist, will lead the workshop, beginning with a short presentation at the Cibolo Nature Center’s auditorium followed by time in the field on the CNC’s 100-acre nature preserve. Participants will learn the field identification points for savannah, vesper and grasshopper sparrows, marsh and house wrens and more.

The workshop costs $35, $25 for CNC members. Advance registration is required online at cibolo.org/calendar or by calling 830-249-4616. A box lunch also will be available for $10. Online registrants interested in purchasing a box lunch are asked to email .

The Cibolo Nature Center in Boerne is located on 162 acres of natural lands at Boerne City Park off Highway 46 just west of the Kendall County Fairgrounds.
