Mardi Gras of Southeast Texas a Family Friendly Event For All Ages
Looking for a fun filled weekend? Come celebrate Mardi Gras in Downtown Port Arthur, Southeast Texas style, on Thursday, February 16, through Sunday, February 19, 2012, with parades both large and small. Don’t miss the Valero Krewe of Krewes or Total Majestic Krewe of Aurora Grand Parade with large New Orleans style floats tossing lots of beads, cups, and doubloons for all to catch and enjoy. On Sunday, the Ridchard Industrial Group Motor Parade features anything and everything that rolls with over 75 entries. The Royalty March, inside the entertainment area, highlights area krewes and their royalty–kings and queens. A state ride quality carnival with midway is located outside the entertainment area with one price wristbands available for any one day. Ten concerts offering a music genre for all tastes! Famous Texas Country Artists Kevin Fowler and Stoney LaRue will perform, and Mardi Gras wouldn’t be Mardi Gras without the sounds of Zydeco. Don’t miss Wayne Toups and Zydecajun, Joel Martin Project Leroy Thomas and the Zydeco Roadrunners, and Ryan Foret and Foret Tradition! Visitors can also enjoy the sounds of Longneck Road, Champagne Room and Jivin Gene, and the Ken Marvel Band. See street entertainment provided by Darrell the Fire Eater and Jerry the Money Man, just to mention a few, while enjoying Cajun food along with plenty other choices available from over 50 food vendors. A great shopping experience awaits you at one of our 65 arts and crafts booths filled with Mardi Gras treasures. We have something for everyone–beautiful costuming from area Krewe royalty, an action filled weekend exploding with music and a traditional Mardi Gras celebration… Come join us!
