Texas Masters of Fine Art and Craft Returns to Kerrville

The 9th Annual Texas Masters of Fine Art and Craft Invitational Exhibition will be held at the Y.O. Ranch Resort Hotel in Kerrville on May 25-27, 2012. The ballrooms of the historic Y.O. Ranch Resort Hotel in Kerrville will be transformed into a breathtaking gallery from Friday, May 25 through Sunday, May 27, as some of Texas’s finest, award-winning artists will display their creations at the prestigious 9th Annual Texas Masters of Fine Art and Craft Invitational Exhibition. Each of the 23 artists invited to the exhibit is a recognized master of his or her chosen media which will include oil paintings, ceramics, watercolors, pastels, metalsmithing, jewelry, woodworking, and sculpture.

Now in its ninth year, the Texas Masters show has earned a reputation as a high-quality, artist-planned, and managed exhibition, indoors in a beautiful environment. Southwestern art aficionados travel from all over the country for their annual Texas art immersion during Memorial Weekend in Kerrville.

Carl Brown, a retired energy executive from Dallas, and his wife, Barbara, a retired pharmacist, maintain that, “The Texas Masters show and the YO Hotel are our headquarters for visiting the Hill Country because we’ve gotten to be friends with some of the artists that regularly show there and there is so much going on that we love to see--the other shows, the antique malls and, of course, it’s usually time for Stonewall peaches.”

Exhibition organizer Dan Baker, who, with his wife, Linda, first displayed their handcrafted gold and silver jewelry at the Texas Arts & Crafts Fair in 1977, is expecting another successful show at the Y.O. Resort Hotel. “In 35 years of showing in Kerrville we’ve developed a good clientele and wonderful friendships – in some cases even extending into the third generation of buyers from the same family. It doesn’t seem to matter what’s going on in the ‘outside world’, Memorial Day weekend in the Hill Country is always fun and rewarding.”

“The Texas Masters’ show has gotten so popular that only one exhibitor from last year’s show dropped out and we managed to ‘shoehorn’ two marvelous painters, John and Edith Maskey from Comfort, into the available space. We wish we had more room, we’ve turned down some great artists that want to join us,” Dan says.

The Y.O. Ranch Resort Hotel, one of the most popular lodging and conference centers in the Texas Hill Country, is located at 2033 Sidney Baker (Hwy 16), 1⁄2 mile from exit 508 of IH 10, on the southwest corner of Sidney Baker and Hwy 534. The show hours will be: Friday, 12 noon -8 p.m.; Saturday, 10 a.m.-8 p.m.; Sunday, 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Admission is free. For more information about the show go online to www.texasmasters.com or call (214) 497-7179.
