Rain or Shine, Wimberley Farmers’ Market Provides Local Freshness

Every Wednesday at the Wimberley Farmers’ Market, the fragrance of fresh fruits, vegetables, and flowers fills the air as vendors place their colorful homegrown offerings on tables for viewing, sampling, and purchasing. Held just off Ranch Road 12, the Farmers’ Market has a history of providing locally-grown produce to the Wimberley area. “Eat seasonally, buy locally” is their motto. For area residents, the weekly market makes this possible.

One of the joys of shopping the Farmers’ Market is the element of discovery and surprise. You never know what may be available from week to week to delight the palate and expand your cooking creativity.

Plus, you get to sample goodies. The vendors are eager to have you taste their wares before you buy. What better pleasure than to bite into a fresh, warm, just-picked vegetable or fruit?

The opportunity to talk face-to-face with the food grower and be educated about the attributes and usage of a new fruit, vegetable, or herb for your cooking pleasure is another bonus of the Farmers’ Market.

Wimberley Farmer’s Market is located at 14050 Ranch Road 12 at River Road in the Thrift Store parking lot, year ‘round, rain or shine, from 3 pm to 6 pm.
