The Wimberley Gospel Music Festival, an annual event, was born in 1978 around a campfire at Blue Hole, under the cypress trees lining the banks of Cypress Creek in Wimberley, Texas. This is the seventh festival sponsored by Cowboys For Jesus, and so far each one has been better than the previous one and we fully intend to improve again this year.
If you don’t know where Fischer is, it’s on FM 32 just across the street from Canyon Lake High School. It’s 12 miles from Wimberley and half way between Blanco and San Marcos just north of Canyon Lake. The festival is a two day event featuring 16 great gospel groups that love to minister God’s word in song.
It is our hope that this year’s festival, will not just be about the music, but that God will minister through the music to touch your heart and draw us all to a closer walk with our Heavenly Father and we will feel His love and His presence.
The festival is produced by the Wimberley Gospel Music Association, a non-profit, Tax-exempt Corporation, staffed entirely by volunteers and funded through the generosity of corporate sponsors and program advertisers, food sales and your generous love offerings. The money left after paying expenses is divided between the performers to help offset their expenses.
During the festival you will hear most types of gospel music including Blue Grass, country and Southern Gospel. So plan to come and enjoy some great gospel music, good fellowship and great food. We sell hamburgers and hot dogs Friday evening and the best BBQ anywhere from noon till 7:00 pm or as long as it last. It’s a come and go event and you can stay as long as you like.
Check out the web site at wimberleygospelmusic.com for the complete schedule and there is also a short video clip of highlights of a few groups from last year.
