Uptown Blanco Hosts 2nd Annual Quilt Show

The show, Wildflowers in Celebration of Lady Bird’s 100th Birthday, runs from Friday, October 12 – Sunday, October 14 in the Uptown Blanco Arts & Entertainment complex in downtown Blanco, TX, featuring traditional and contemporary quilts made by quilters throughout Texas in a variety of categories. This year’s judge is Martha Tsihlas of delSol Quilts in Austin, Texas.

Also on display will be one of Lady Bird Johnson’s family quilts, along with a few pieces of furniture on loan from the Texas White House through the LBJ National Park Service. Photographs of Lady Bird will accompany the quilt on display. These are quite a treasure to be able to share with attendees.

McKenna Ryan’s (Pine Needles Quilt Designs) beautiful Petals of My Heart quilt series will be on display complementing the Wildflower theme. McKenna’s pieces bring nature and color into the home and are quite popular.

Available daily will be vendors demonstrating various techniques of quilt making, along with the tools used and many door prizes. The Johnson City Quilt Guild will have raffle quilts on display and a Country Store.

The show opens Friday, October 12 at noon and runs to 7pm. The opening reception, complete with birthday cake, runs Friday from 5pm to 6:30pm. The show also opens Saturday, October 13, 10am to 5pm and Sunday, October 14, 12 to 4pm. The public is invited to the show and the opening reception.
