Texas Hill Country Opera & Arts Presents Handel’s Messiah

Uvalde Main Street and Texas Hill Country Opera & Arts are collaborating in producing a performance of Handel’s Messiah at Uvalde’s Grand Opera House on Sunday, December 9, beginning at 3:00 p.m. Featuring the Uvalde High School varsity chorus who will be joined by community choir members from Uvalde and the surrounding area, local organist Susanna Steigerwald joined by well-known organist Madolyn Fallis of San Antonio; Jason Sclichting at the piano; Bass, Sam Mungo, chair of the opera department at Texas State, San Marcos; Tenor Kevin Evans of San Antonio, Soprano Jerrie Anne Salvato of Knippe, and Soprano Elaine Schlichting of Uvalde. The performance is under the direction of Mark Lyon, choral director at the Uvalde High School. Tickets are $15.00 and may be purchased at the Uvalde Opera House, 830-278-4184 and online at texashillcountryopera.com.

Another event at The Brauntex Theater in New Braunfels on Saturday, December 22, at 7:30 p.m., are the tour de force San Antonio 3 Tenors, Gli Unici, in a Holiday Extravaganza Concert that will be certain to capture all the dynamics and spirit of the Christmas season. Sponsored by the Downtown Lunch Rotary Club of New Braunfels, the tenors include Donald Braswell of Boerne, most well known for being America’s Got Talent 2009 3rd runner up, joined by Timothy Birt and William Chapman. The tenors have been referred to as Gli Unici–the only ones–because they come close to the sound of the original three tenors. Tickets may be purchased online at Brauntex.org.

Texas Hill Country Opera & Arts wishes to thank all of our patrons and sponsors from throughout the Hill Country region who have helped us have a banner year in our first season! Plans for next season are underway and will be announced soon. Visit us online at texashillcountryopera.com for more details.
