Last year, the Boerne Performing Arts brought world class performances such as the Vienna Boys Choir, TAO: The Art of the Drum and Bowfire to Boerne so that people in the Texas Hill Country could enjoy these nationally and internationally known groups right here, where they enjoy life.
The inaugural season was a huge success- so much so that they sold out all of the performances. So, the Boerne Performing Arts is proud to announce a second season, with a lineup that is just as spectacular as the first. All three of these performances will be held at Boerne Champion High School.
Beginning January 30, Boerne Performing Arts will present Drumline Live, a show-stopping marching band extravaganza that parades the football stadium to center stage! This theatrical production features a versatile group of musicians and dancers with vivacious energy and athleticism, performing an eclectic mix of musical styles through explosive percussion, resounding brass, and dazzling choreography.
Drumline Live is an international tour based on the Historically Black College and University marching band tradition. With riveting rhythms, bold beats, and ear-grabbing energy, the stage show is a synchronized musical showcase of the HBCU experience. Incorporating original compositions and soul-infused interpretations of top 40 hits, group performances will range from colorful, choreographed routines to heavy doses of drum riffs and cadences.
On Saturday, February 9, The 5 Browns will grace the stage! This family of five, all masters at the piano, have been billed as “The Biggest Classical Music Sensation in Years!!!” Thundering down on the keyboards in a description only fitting as “pianomania”, The 5 Browns all attended New York’s Juilliard School and tour extensively throughout the world as exclusive Steinway artists. The Brown siblings are young, hip, talented, and at the top of their game!
Since being dubbed the “Fab Five” by People Magazine, they have been featured on Oprah, 60 Minutes, Good Morning America, Today, The Tonight Show…and the list goes on and on. They have toured extensively and performed in such venues as the Grand National Theater in China, Suntory Hall in Japan, The Kimmel Center (Philadelphia), Symphony Hall (Chicago)…and now The 5 Browns will be making their debut performance in Boerne, Texas!
The third and final scheduled performance is Celtic Nights on February 23. Direct from Ireland, Celtic Nights presents a stirring tale of Celtic origin showcasing a spell-binding and exhilarating picture of their people and their passion through the power and majesty of their music and hypnotic fury of dancing Irish feet. This broad and colorful tapestry of Celtic music highlights their driving passion for music and dance.
Expertly weaving lilting melodies and plaintive lyrics of their rich heritage into a stirring Celtic experience, Celtic Nights features the finest vocalists in the Celtic world showcased against a thundering backdrop of expert dancing and musicianship. This glittering production creates an exhilarating picture of the Journey of Hope from Ireland to the New World.
Bringing the world of performing arts to Boerne is the mission of Boerne Performing Arts. By presenting a wide range of the highest quality national and international caliber performing artists/companies and promulgating arts education through numerous outreach programs, Boerne Performing Arts strives to contribute to the cultural life of the City of Boerne, Kendall County, and the entire Texas Hill Country region, and these performances will definitely fulfill that mission.
