Uptown Blanco is in Its Third Year and Still Getting Better
The Uptown Blanco Art Center is now entering its third year of art education in Blanco. It opened in February 2008 as the second phase of the new Uptown Blanco project on Main Street. The Blanco area was first settled in 1853 by Captain James Hughes Callahan, Eli Clemens Hinds, and their families. The pioneers built homes along the Blanco River and, in 1854, formed the Pittsburg Land Company with General John D. Pitts and others. Blanco State Park Opens Wildlife Viewing Area

The Wildlife Viewing Station at the Blanco State Park is officially completed and open for use by park patrons and visitors. The completion of the structure was celebrated with a private dedication ceremony held on Monday, May 24. The structure has been dedicated to long-time Blanco resident Jean Evans. Each year on the third weekend in May, the beautiful Blanco State Park is transformed as the Blanco Classic Car Show bringing immaculately restored vehicles to the grassy banks of the Blanco River. Museum Plans Grand Opening
Blanco Pioneer Museum’s steering committee met Monday January 4th to plan the grand opening celebration of the Museum located on Pecan Street behind the Bowling Alley. The festive occasion will take place on Saturday afternoon, February 27, with story telling, music, cowboy food and a street dance. Watch Birds and Wildlife in Comfort at Blanco State Park

Visitors to Blanco State Park will soon be able to take advantage of a new structure for wildlife viewing and enjoyment. Construction will begin in February and should be completed by the end of March. The facility is designed for viewing and photographing birds and other wildlife and will also be used as on outdoor classroom by park personnel.
