Contest starts March 1. Deadline is May 31. The Texas Hill Country is a photographer’s paradise. Creeks are once again flowing, and the forecast calls for a green spring with plenty of wildflowers. Now is the time to dust off your camera and head outside to capture the beauty and mystique of this special region. Three top winners will receive $250 in cash! 13 winners will be featured in our popular 2011 Hill Country Calendar. Friday evenings, Saturday afternoons. The time is 1906. Visitors will be booked into the Brown County Jail. They will be given a brochure that identifies historical characters they will meet when they go upstairs to the cell floor. There they will have the opportunity to interact with those they come in contact with to learn more of their background, history or crime. $7 admission. 325-641-1926.

5pm-6pm. Inks Lake State Park, 3630 Park Road 4 West. After a brief safety and basic fishing skill instruction, children will get a chance to go fishing with a Park Ranger and a Master Naturalist. This is a catch and release program that introduces fishing to our youngsters. A limited amount of fishing equipment (including poles and bait) is available to check out through the Tackle Loaner Program at the park, or bring your own.
