Contest starts March 1. Deadline is May 31. The Texas Hill Country is a photographer’s paradise. Creeks are once again flowing, and the forecast calls for a green spring with plenty of wildflowers. Now is the time to dust off your camera and head outside to capture the beauty and mystique of this special region. Three top winners will receive $250 in cash! 13 winners will be featured in our popular 2011 Hill Country Calendar. Many photographers will be recognized with cameo shots throughout the Calendar.

Friday evenings, Saturday afternoons. The time is 1906. Visitors will be booked into the Brown County Jail. They will be given a brochure that identifies historical characters they will meet when they go upstairs to the cell floor. There they will have the opportunity to interact with those they come in contact with to learn more of their background, history or crime.

5pm-6pm. Inks Lake State Park, 3630 Park Road 4 West. After a brief safety and basic fishing skill instruction, children will get a chance to go fishing with a Park Ranger and a Master Naturalist. This is a catch and release program that introduces fishing to our youngsters. A limited amount of fishing equipment (including poles and bait) is available to check out through the Tackle Loaner Program at the park, or bring your own. Adult supervision is highly recommended.

Join us as we ride The Original Texas Star Trail through Fredericksburg, Luckenbach, Stonewall, Johnson City, Blanco, Fischer, Wimberley and Driftwood. Each year, about 300 people take part in the 107 mile ride. It's the experience of a lifetime, and one you will not forget. We cross 40 cattle guards through more than 20 Hill Country ranches, including LBJ Ranch-Ranch Road 1 of the State of Texas.

There will be food, fun, friendship, dancing, silent auction items, raffles, and festivities to be experienced by all. We welcome your family to attend this event and join the merriment. The cooks' meeting begins at 10am and the Celebrity Judging will begin at 3:45pm. The People's Choice contest will begin when the doors open to the public at 4pm. The Award Ceremony is scheduled for 7pm, but don't think it is over just yet because a live band, "The Flying GT's", will play 7pm-10pm!

The Schreiner University choir will present a program of music in three dinner theater performances in March at First Presbyterian Church, 800 Jefferson St. All proceeds will go toward a choir tour of Germany and Austria in May, during which the Schreiner group will perform as various venues.
