8am. Blackwell Rodeo Arena. Hosted with Blackwell Ranch Rodeo. CASI sanctioned chili cook-off. Competitions include pinto beans, chicken wings, and brisket. Sign up for bloody mary and margarita pour-off. Prizes awarded for each event. Judging throughout the day. Ranch rodeo at 5pm. Austin's "The Duqaines" follows the rodeo. Camping spaces available (no hook-ups). Proceeds benefit Blackwell Riding Club.

Solo jazz piano every Saturday evening at the Uptown Blanco Restaurant, 317 Main St., 6:30pm-9:30pm. Larry Natwick performs selections from the Great American Songbook. Repertoire includes compositions by Duke Ellington, George Gershwin, Bill Evans, Thelonious Monk.

9am. Guadalupe River State Park, 3350 Park Road 31. The Saturday morning walking tour of Honey Creek. Call in advance to confirm that the tour will be given on the particular Saturday you wish to visit. Honey Creek State Natural Area is 2293.7 acres located in western Comal County, approximately 30 miles north of downtown San Antonio.

FTC's production will be "The Diary of Anne Frank," the story of one young girl's indominitable spirit captured in her diary. This story will touch you deeply. All performances are on Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30pm and Sundays at 2pm. No performance on Friday, September 17 in honor of Yom Kippur; alternate on Thursday, September 23.

2pm-5pm. Claiborne Kyle Log House (2400 S. Old Stagecoach Rd., County Road 136). The Claiborne Kyle Log House was originally constructed in 1850 for Colonel Claiborne Kyle and his wife Lucy Bugg and their family. The Log House is open the first Sunday of every month through October and is a opportunity to learn about the historic home.

This is the cause of numerous unsuccessful endeavors to rediscover the mine and is the basis for our annual Jim Bowie Day Celebration. Try your hand at finding the famous silver, pitch some washers or just sit back and enjoy the music under the pecan trees at our park next to the San Saba River.
