67th Annual Wimberley VFW Rodeo Returns in the Heart of the Hill Country
A Texas Hill Country tradition and centerpiece of Wimberley’s 4th of July weekend celebration this year will mark the 67th consecutive year for the VFW’s rodeo, hosted by VFW Post 6441.
One of the largest outdoor rodeos in Texas, the event will be held July 5th, 6th, and 7th at the Veterans Park rodeo grounds located three miles north of Wimberley just off Ranch Road 12.

Big D Mini Bucking Bulls Bring Something New to Rodeo
Rodeo fans are in for something new this year with youth ages 7 to 14 trying their hands at riding mini bucking bulls in the Wimberley VFW Rodeo Arena. And the unusual bulls are from Wimberley.
The bulls stand about waist high to an adult and weigh in between 700 and 800 pounds compared to a regular rodeo bull weighing more than 2,500 pounds.
Calling Wimberley their home, the bulls are raised and trained by Dale and Marylaura Doherty of Big D Mini Bucking Bulls on Lone Mountain Road.
